I’ve been with Optus for a while now, and I don’t know, I just don’t feel good about the whole privacy side of things anymore. After that data breach, the updates felt kind of slow and not really clear enough for me. Ever since then I get this uneasy feeling whenever I have to give them personal info or change anything on my account online. The actual service is mostly fine, but the trust just isn’t really there for me now

"Pretty decent value overall"
Not gonna lie, I’ve been with Optus for a few months now and it’s been solid for what I’m paying. The data allowance is good, and the coverage has been mostly fine for me. I do wish it was a little cheaper, but it still feels like better value than my old provider.

Upgraded my phone and it was painless. I was half expecting them to try and drag it out or sneak in some extra pitch, but it was quick, straightforward, and I left happy.

My NBN kept dropping out, which was really frustrating. I jumped on support chat and had to wait a while before anyone responded. To be fair, the guy I spoke to did fix the settings and it’s been working okay since, but I still feel like an apology would’ve been nice given the hassle...
"SIM activation took way longer than I expected"
I tried activating my new SIM through optus.com.au it was more frustrating than I thought it would be. I still remember sitting there refreshing and waiting, not really sure if anything was actually happening because the pages were loading slowly and the updates weren’t clear. It ended up taking ages before the service finally started working. Support was okay when I reached out, but even that took a bit of time. It wasn’t a complete disaster, but for something as simple as activating a SIM, it left me feeling annoyed.

"Roaming was easy and worked well overseas"
I used Optus roaming while I was in Singapore and Japan, and it was smoother than I expected. I’d asked a couple of friends beforehand if it was worth using or if I should just get a local SIM, and they said roaming had worked fine for them, so I gave it a go. I turned it on before flying out and my phone connected soon after I landed.
The data was good enough for the usual stuff like Google Maps, WhatsApp, and making bookings on the go. I also got a text letting me know the costs, which was reassuring because I didn’t want any surprise charges. Overall, I’m happy I used it, especially since it matched what others had told me.

I signed up for the deal and the promo credit showed up like they said it would. It did take a few days, so I was kind of waiting and checking, but... it came through in the end. Didn’t have to chase anyone down or anything, so all good.

"Glad I switched, didn’t want to risk more downtime"
Had my NBN installed with Optus last week and it went smoothly. The tech turned up within the time window and got everything connected without any drama. It did take a little while to activate afterwards, which had me a bit worried because I really didn’t want to lose more time without proper internet, but support helped get it sorted. Overall, happy with how it all went.

"Took a While, But They Finally Fixed It"
I had a frustrating start with my billing issue. I had to explain the same problem more than once, which got annoying fast, especially because it felt like I was repeating myself and repeating myself with no real progress. It also took a few days longer than I expected, so that was another complaint from me. But the last support person I spoke with actually listened, understood what I was saying, and got it fixed properly. I finally got a clear response and the credit was applied. Not a perfect experience, but I’m glad it was resolved in the end

"Good speeds, but wish the setup info was clearer"
I’ve been using Optus on my phone for a few months now, and the mobile data has been reliable most days. Videos load quickly, and maps don’t freeze up like they used to with my old provider. Overall I’m happy with it, though I did expect the instructions for getting started and managing things to be a bit clearer.

"Signal is basically useless"
I’m fed up with this. The coverage drops constantly, even when I’m right in town, so I don’t know what they’re doing with their network. I can barely get a signal anywhere, and it’s ridiculous...
"Seems like a solid modem so far"
I’ve only had it set up for a little while, but so far the modem is working well. The hardware feels sturdy, and setup was simple enough that I didn’t feel like I needed to call anyone for help. I figured it was worth replacing the old one instead of waiting for more connection issues, and at this point I’m glad I did.

I found what I needed quickly, which was the main thing I cared about. The app was simple to get around, nothing confusing popped up, and I didn’t have to waste time clicking through a bunch of random sections. Everything just worked the way I expected it to, so there were no dramas or annoying issues to deal with.

"Pretty reliable for everyday use"
I’ve been using Optus internet for a while now, and it’s been steady overall. It doesn’t drop out much, which I think most customers would appreciate, especially if you’re working from home or streaming. There have been a few slower nights here and there, but nothing too frustrating. All in all, I’m happy enough with it.

"Optus recharge was insanely quick"
Recharged my Optus prepaid today it was ridiculously easy. Took maybe two minutes tops, the payment went through on the first try, and the credit appeared straight away like magic. I was fully expecting some kind of hassle, but nope, absolutely no dramas at all. Almost made my day, which is probably dramatic, but here we are.

"Tech showed up way too late"
I ended up waiting around pretty much all day for the tech to show up. This is where it got annoying, they were hours late again, and I had to rearrange my whole day around it. Really frustrating experience.

"Bills have been pretty much spot on"
I’ve had around a few bills come through now, and they’ve all been right about what I expected. No random charges or surprises so far, which is a nice change.
